The kitchen moves easily between Kashmiri classics, North Indian favourites and Thai, Chinese and English dishes – built around fresh produce, fish and fruit brought daily from Nigeen Lake's floating markets.

The Retreat
Without doubt some of the most unique accommodation in all of India is to be found in these magnificent pieces of Victoriana. The majority of the houseboats that we use are comparatively new, yet retain the best Victorian qualities of comfort and service with all the advantages of modern facilities. Each houseboat has three or four double rooms with private facilities and a dining room, sitting room and deck. Each houseboat has its own houseboy in attendance and service. The choice of cuisine is varied and reflects the influence of India, Kashmir, Thai, Chinese & English tastes.
